Hip Style On A Minimal Budget

Many people are all too content to leave their apartments and homes in their ‘default’ state. That is to say, with boring white walls, and a severe lack of imagination. The funny thing is that most people generally don’t like to live that way. So why do they do it? Why don’t they makeover their homes to suit their own personal style?

You don’t need to go through this anymore. Today’s style is all about incorporating home decor accents that show off your personality. This means you can go wild, and by following just a few basic principles of design, you’ll have a place that you actively enjoy living in, rather than one you just tolerate as a place to sleep in between working.

The idea here is that you can do as much or as little as you want. Redecorating just by adding a few touches is fine and can have a big effect. On the other hand, if you want to go all out and say, repaint your walls, this is great too. Be sure to choose a color that suits your lifestyle, whether it’s a chilled out blue or a warm and sunny yellow or anything in between.

Repaint your walls with the color which suits your style

It’s all about suiting your lifestyle, so once you have the colors in your room playing to your personality, you can add a few other times. Maybe some furniture that coordinates well with your new paint? Or a few simple props that show off your personal interests in a tasteful way?

It is possible to achieve this. You can have a well-designed room that still reflects you personally if you don’t go overboard. Think of how to represent your interests with as little clutter as possible, preferable with a single iconic piece. For example, if you’re a Buddhist, maybe a small altar. If you’re a music fan, maybe a single Dreadnought acoustic guitar or some other beautiful piece.

This can apply to any interest. Into cooking? Spend some money on coordinating the towels and appliances and fixtures in your kitchen. A fan of science fiction? Throw out the action figures and get an imposing and appealing black helmet, like Vader’s, for prominent display. History buff? Maybe a large print of a photograph of a single iconic moment in history.

Changing the space in which you live can have dramatic effects on your life. If your room goes against your personality, you can never truly relax there. On the other hand, if you suit it to your unique personality, then it will become a place that you truly enjoy living in, and this will give you more energy, greater relaxation, and an overall stronger sense of well-being.
